Beautiful, But Not Practical
I want to love this baby play gym set, as it is stunning and fits our nursery decor perfectly. The materials are high quality and well made. It is SO soft and cozy to lay on. It comes with a lot of accessories, like toys and a tummy time pillow, which are all cute and functional. It’s huge and gives lots of space for baby to play.However… it’s almost too well made for a baby to play on. It’s TOO pillowy soft, and my baby sinks into the material and can’t move like she wants to. She gets super frustrated until I move her to her old play mat. I can’t do tummy time on this, as she has a hard time lifting her head high enough out of the material to breath, even at four months old. She’s great at tummy time, the material is just too pillowy. I’m so hoping that over time, the cushion will deflate a little so we can enjoy this product as intended. If that happens, I’ll definitely update my review!The mirror attachment arrived scratched (see pictures). I tried to see if it was some sort of removable coating, but there’s nothing to take off that isn’t sewed to the fabric. I think it’s just a cheap, easily scratchable mirror. The product box this mat came in was too small for the product, luckily Amazon put it in an Amazon box too or I doubt this would have arrived. The product box was splitting from the product being too large.I love that you can lay it completely flat or tie it together like a baby container. The issue is the sides are super floppy when they’re tied together, and they won’t actually stay up straight no matter what we do.My older kids love laying on this play mat, and we still use it. It’s just not great for what we had planned for it, which is a baby play mat. There are other less expensive play mats that will do a better job at that specific task, but they will not be NEARLY as comfortable as this play mat is.
