Worth the peace of mind!
This is my second owlet! I have been using this one for nine months now with no issue. It definitely helps me sleep better at night knowing that my baby is monitored! There was one night where it went off with a critical alert, and I rushed into my baby‘s room to find him stuck face down in the corner of the bed. He wasn’t making a sound in fact he was still sleeping. Without the owlet, I would’ve never known something was wrong! The only con I have is that if I leave it on the same foot for longer than a week or two it creates a little mark on the baby’s foot. The baby doesn’t feel it, It doesn’t hurt them at all. I’ll take this over the alternative any day!With my first it started to malfunction just before the one year mark. It was not picking up a connection so we emailed Owlet and send them a copy of our Amazon order. They had it replaced within two days! Amazing customer service!

Reliable Monitor, but Occasionally Has Connection Issues
We’ve been using the Owlet Dream Duo for a few months now, and overall, it’s been a game-changer for keeping tabs on our baby’s health and safety. Here’s what we’ve experienced:Pros:Peace of Mind: The Dream Sock tracks our baby’s pulse rate and oxygen levels, which has been incredibly reassuring, especially at night. We get real-time notifications, which gives us peace of mind while he sleeps.Clear 1080p Video: The Owlet Cam 2 provides crystal-clear video in HD, making it easy to monitor our baby. The night vision is also great, ensuring we can see him even in low light.User-Friendly App: The app is easy to set up and navigate, allowing us to check on our baby from anywhere, whether we’re in another room or out of the house.FDA-Cleared & Trustworthy: Knowing that the Dream Sock is FDA-cleared gives us confidence that it’s a reliable and safe way to monitor our baby’s health.Cons:Occasional Connection Issues: There are times when the baby monitor will disconnect, especially when the baby is downstairs. Nightmare Sock
My wife insisted on getting this product to monitor our baby’s O2 and heart rate, while sleeping, for peace of mind. Peace of mind has been the complete opposite of what the dream sock has given us. First, you cannot use the Health Notifications, which is the feature that alarms if baby’s O2 falls below 80%, until baby is 1 month old. When finally setting this feature up, it took several attempts restarting my phone, reinstalling the app, and unplugging and plugging the base back in for the “activation” to complete. While using the dream sock, it would constantly drop connection with the base and the base would alarm, sending a notification to my phone stating “sensor disconnected from base station.” My daughter sleeps 1-2 feet away from the base station. It is set up on the dresser directly next to where she is sleeping. This has been our experience for nearly a week now and each night we have had to unplug the base to get it to stop alarming. What is really frustrating is we will put the sock on while our daughter is getting ready to go down for the night and it will work perfectly. While she’s wiggling around during a diaper change in another room, while she’s being rocked to sleep, even when she’s downstairs before we all go to bed, there are no alarms, but as soon as we lay down to sleep, again DIRECTLY next to the base, it starts alarming. This is easily one of the worst products I have ever used. It flat out does not work for the function for which it is designed. The cost is ridiculous. Upon writing this review, I see the cost has increased a further $100 since we purchased our kit. Seriously, my wife bought an “off brand” Apple Watch for $15 that tracks her O2 and heart rate and it works far and above better than the dream sock. The Owlet app looks like it was designed for Windows XP and works just about as well. I haven’t even set up the camera yet, but based on my experience with the dream sock and app, I expect it to be a complete nightmare to use and the whole kit will end up being a tremendous waste of money that just sits in the cupboard collecting dust. Unfortunately we are beyond the return window because of the whole “can’t use it for the first month of baby’s life” thing so we’re stuck with the nightmare sock for good. I guess I expected that for a premium cost I would be getting a premium product with a premium user experience. The Owlet Dream Sock and app are the total OPPOSITE of a premium product and premium user experience and I would not recommend this product to anyone.05/27/2024 Update: I set up the camera and it was simple enough. I like that it shows the humidity of the room and gives an indication of the noise level in the room on the app. The picture quality is about as good as the webcam that came for free with my Dad’s HP Pavilion desktop computer in 1999. We wanted a second camera for another area of our house where our daughter naps, but a camera on its own is $129! Thats right, $129 for essentially a 1080p webcam. Do a quick search on Amazon and you can find higher image quality baby monitor cameras, with the same features, for far less than half the price. We are going to go that route for a second camera.My wife insisted on using the dream sock for what has now been a total of 6 weeks and she has finally given up on it. We end up having to unplug it almost every night because it keeps giving the same connectivity error over and over to the point, last night, it woke our baby up. I am not confident that if our baby was having a medical emergency it would even work to alert us because the connectivity issues have been so bad. Not to mention with it going off over and over, night after night, it has been pretty much “crying wolf” for 6 weeks. My wife and I are done using this product for good and the sock is now packed away. For how poorly the dream sock has worked, I wonder if our set was possibly defective? But again, we can’t return it because we are beyond the return window. I cannot reiterate enough, this is BY FAR the worst product I have ever used and the value for money is truly horrendous. Since the dream sock is nonfunctional, we ended up paying $269 for essentially a 1080p webcam and an app that looks like it’s from before the iPhone was even invented. Also, don’t forget, this all functions over 2.4ghz WIFI and not the newer 5ghz WIFI so there is noticeable lag with both the camera and sock. The dream sock has cost my wife and I hours and hours and hours of sleep and has done the complete and total opposite of giving us “peace of mind.” It belongs with Oscar the Grouch, IN THE TRASH.

Worth it for peace of mind
Our baby was premature by 5 weeks and came home on full oxygen.When I tell you I had anxiety every time the monitor went off, I literally thought I may die of a heart attack in that first week. One of the connectors was faulty even after replacing cables etc. the company could not figure out what was wrong. We finally gave up and just bought the owlet. My babies foot was still a little too small so sometimes it would just beep loudly because he scrunched his foot or was managing to wiggle out of it. However the peace of mind it overall gave us was better than anything.I could check on my phone at anytime and see his oxygen level. The owlet finally calmed my anxiety so that I wasn’t worried every few minutes whether or not my kid could actually breathe.Is it expensive? Yes 100%However it is worth it if you need that peace of mind, especially if your baby isn’t the typical perfect newborn and needs a little extra help. For anyone going through that, I promise this can help.

Best monitoring package for newborn
We’ve used an Owlet product for both of our toddlers, and now we’re going to use another one for our newborn. The device is easy to setup and has tons of features that help put your mind at ease. Great quality sock and comes with multiple sizes.

Great product for piece of mind. The only negative is the Bluetooth strength. I need to constantly disconnect and move base closer to where the baby is during the day.

In 2025 this product cannot handle mesh wifis’ single SSID. Meaning, if you have let’s say Google Nest Pro, you will not be able to use it as that does not separate 2.4 GHZ from the other bandwiths. Be careful when you buy it, unless you live in a cage with an old-school router.

We purchased the Owlet Dream Duo 2 in August 2024, and our experience has been very mixed. The Dream Sock deserves 5 stars, while the camera unfortunately only deserves 1.Dream Sock (5/5):The Dream Sock has been an absolute game changer for our peace of mind. Even when our baby is completely still, we know they’re safe. The live heart rate readings give us insight into when they’re asleep, awake, or even recovering from a cold. It is incredibly accurate and provides real-time reassurance. I would recommend this part of the product to any new parent without hesitation.Camera (1/5):The camera has been deeply disappointing and even alarming. For months, it would randomly shut off and only turn back on after being manually unplugged and plugged back in. We tolerated this until one night the app showed the room temperature as over 30°C. We rushed into the room to find it was actually quite cool, but the camera itself was extremely hot to the touch. This was frightening and made us very concerned about the potential fire risk. We immediately unplugged it and have not used it since.It was connected using the original power supply directly into the wall, so we know this wasn’t due to a setup issue. Unfortunately, this experience has completely shaken our trust in the safety of the camera.Overall:If I could rate the components separately, the Dream Sock would receive a solid 5 out of 5 and the camera a 1 out of 5. I hope Owlet addresses the camera concerns in future versions, because while the concept is excellent, safety must always come first when it comes to baby gear.
