Whitmor Garment & Drying Rack

Great Value, Clever Design
I needed a clothing rack to dry clothes I didn’t want to put in the dryer. I mainly hang jeans & shirts to dry. I remembered the “Whitmor” brand from a few years ago when I purchased their “Baker’s Rack,” which is excellent.This clothes rack needs NO assembly; setting it up took me 20 seconds. The top section just snaps into the base with an audible “Click.” It is very cleverly designed; it opens & closes like an umbrella. When it arrived, I didn’t have any damp clothes to hang, but I hung 4 pairs of jeans & 3 pairs of sweat pants, skipping every other hanging spot to simulate how I would hang clothes with a little space between them to allow air to circulate to facilitate drying. I had room for more clothes. This rack is so inexpensive, I will probably buy a second one so I can dry two loads of laundry at the same time. There are spaces for 18 garments, but if you’re using it as a drying rack, like I am, you have spaces for 9 garments, since you’ll need air to circulate between them.The unit weighs less than 3 pounds & can easily be moved from room to room.You do have to balance the load – both when hanging and also when removing clothes, otherwise the rack will tip over.

Sturdy and well designed clothing racks
We bought this same product many years ago. Wife loved it and wanted a second so we can bring all the clothes to the ironing station (family room in front of the TV-haha) so she can keep going without missing any of her show. She loves them. No issues and seem to be quality. She does tend to put a lot on them.

Great Clothes Rack
I give this rack 5 stars for assembly & ease of use. Cannot speak to durability yet as it’s plastic & unsure of durability over time. It’s been used more than a handful of times over the past couple of months. I’ve used it to dry clothes outside & to provide house guests with a place to hang their clothes and wet towels. Not only does it serve the intended purpose, it’s multi functional. Additional benefits are that it’s lightweight and takes up little space when collapsed. Top “locks” to base with a simple twist. The locking function could have been designed better as the top comes off base often when gripping the top central rod. It’s not a big deal to adjust to gripping the unit a bit lower than where one would naturally grip (grip it below where top inserts into base at about mid-point) to avoid top coming away from base, which is ungainly when it’s loaded with garments.

Picture is misleading…
This is a very sturdy item. I have no troubles with hanging clothes on it to dry or to sort for the closet. It is as well made for a mostly plastic item. I purchased this brand because of the photo shown where it folds down. The picture makes it appear that it telescopes down into itself for storage in one piece. Nope. You have to take the top part for hanging clothes off of it and then you have two pieces to keep up with. If you leave the two pieces together for storage it is about 5 feet tall. I don’t have a shelf that long in my laundry room and it is rather bulky to hang from a wall and with a small laundry room storing things on the floor is not an option. I do miss the old days when you could find what you wanted in a real store and actually see an item…oh well. All in all it is a decent product.Update: Just ordered our second. The first one broke several times from us stepping on the tripod and it turning over in the wind. Repaired well with plastic glue. It worked so well for air drying that when it finally broke and was repairable, I ordered another. The new one doesn’t seem to be made from the same ‘brittle’ type plastic as our first.

El material se ve que es resistente pero no tanto para dejarlo viviendo de por vida en el sol. Me es muy práctico que la ropa sea colgada en ganchos, ya que esto te facilita después guardarla al closet.El truco para poner la ropa es empezar de afuera hace dentro y cada prenda en cada extremo para que esté equilibrado y no se caiga. Al estar doblado, no ocupa mucho espacio y súper fácil de armar, tiene el mecanismo como de un paraguas así que creo que tardas más en abrir la caja que en colocarlo para su uso.Se me hizo súper práctico, ya que lo coloque en balcón que hay y sin lios se ventila toda la ropa para que se seque.La relación de precio, calidad y uso, creo que es excelente a comparación de otros tendederos más caros que este y que pones la ropa colgada.Sin duda es una recomendable opción si cuentas en tu dpto con una ventilación y/o balcón.
