Anticipate cold weather with a quick glance out the window at this digital outdoor window thermometer. Made by Chaney AcuRite, the thermometer sticks to any surface with a large, rubber suction on its metallic mount. The thermometer’s digital display conveys the temperature in easy-to-read 3/4-inch-high numerals. To offer illumination, a translucent pale green LCD frame borders the screen. The thermometer measures temperatures ranging from -4 to +158 degrees Fahrenheit to the tenth of a degree for precision; Celsius readings are not available with this item. Weather-resistant, the thermometer provides an on/off switch on its base underneath a weather-proof rubber seal. For the best results, install the thermometer out of direct sunlight. Moisten the suction before applying it to a clean window pane to ensure a strong bond. While the thermometer’s screen is not backlit, by painting or covering its backside white, the light from the frame may allow nighttime reading. A pre-installed L1154 cell battery powers the thermometer and can be replaced using a small Phillips screwdriver. Made in China. The thermometer measures 2 inches wide by 1/2 inch deep by 3-1/4 inches high and weighs 2 pounds upon shipping.

Years old model, still going strong.
I have one of these that I bought a few years ago, and it still works, and sticks to the window, just fine. It fell off once; I just cleaned the window and the suction cup and reattached it. My one and only issue is that you can’t read the temperature when it’s dark outside. Other than that, I find this to be an excellent product. I’ve changed the battery once (just recently). I’m now looking for one that works the same way, but for inside or outside, and I’m going with this same brand, even knowing that one can no longer rely on any brand maintaining their product longevity. I’m hoping this manufacturer isn’t going with the current planned obsolescence craze.

Stick it to the window and forget about it (in the shade) Should last for at least three years before battery replacement.
Bought this from Tractor Supply for a few bucks three years ago. The battery died and instead of replacing the battery I went on Amazon to see if they carried this thermometer and they did, so I order a new one. When you are used to seeing this every day outside your window and one day it does not work, it feels like a void just opened. This window thermometer works so well that I trust it over the weather channel. From the day I purchased this from Tractor Supply on clearance, I always said that this was the best purchase I ever made for only a few dollars. My replacement from Amazon cost a little bit more but still worth every penny.I really depend on knowing the outside temperature and this little guy fits the bill and is very accurate. I highly recommend this as an inexpensive way of knowing the outside temperature. It is a great size with a readable display and I wear reading glassesIt is mounted next to my Hummingbird feeder in the shade(NORTH FACING WINDOW) away from direct Sun and it is great. You can not read this at night however, if you can if you have an exterior light and a flashlight.

Temperature isn’t anywhere near accurate…
If you have $13 you just want to toss out the window, (same one this gadget is installed on), open the window, reach up, pull off glass and throw on ground. No, that’s a breach against the environment, don’t do that. Instead, take the $13 and light it up with something inside it. It will give you much more satisfaction than the expectation and subsequent disappointment of this item functioning improperly. Let me address the “suggested areas of concern” for this review: “Thermometer quality” = actually it looks pretty solid and I like the design- suction cup probably would have lasted awhile and the first one was out there for about 6 days before I lost faith…. Value for money: Nyet, Temperature accuracy: 12 degrees off not acceptable by anyone’s standards, Ease of Use: Oh!!! It was actually easy, if you don’t count the masking tape I applied to the back to see the numbers, which are otherwise invisible.

4 Stars ONLY because of difficulty reading
This little thermostat has worked for me for nearly 3 years. It was outside my kitchen window in all weather, but I could no longer read it. I just replaced the battery today, and it is much easier to read and it is accurate to outdoor temperatures. You will need a tiny tiny jewelry philips screwdriver and a replacement 357 round battery. The thermostat opened easily and there was even a little clear plastic tab to help in removing the old battery. I popped in the new battery (with + side up) and secured the two tiny screws. It immediately worked! Someone else pointed out that this is an inexpensive item and thus throw-away. I hate throwing away things so it was great to get this little thermostat to work again. I think there have been a lot of very harsh reviews for an item that seems to work. It is a little difficult to read in the sun, and it is not lit for reading at night. That is my only criticism.

accurate affordable easy
I love this little thing! I have a balcony and I just stick it on the door’s window. Simple, lasts a long time, easy to read. This is my 2nd purchase.

Compact and accurate
Accurate, inconspicuous, and attractive. In some locations it may be difficult to read due to a lack of background contrast behind it. Where I use it, it’s perfect.

Difficult to see the temperature
It’s very small and the temperature is difficult to see. It can’t be seen at all at night. Don’t waste your money

I didn’t notice it wasn’t showing both common temperature scales ! My error !! I only wanted degrees C..

A good outdoor, stuck on the window thermometer.Cons: only F and not highly visible when dusk or dark out. Place in a window that has an outdoor light.

Why are you selling a Fahrenheit only thermometer in Canada! I fully expected this to be both Celcius and Fahrenheit like every other thermometer on the market. It’s only Fahrenheit and useless in Canada!!!

This thermometer sticks on the outside of my glass door thus giving the outside temperature at a glance. I am never stuck wearing the wrong coat!

I wanted both F and C because I tend to go back and forth. I had Celsius already so I bought this for Fahrenheit. It reflects the temperature accurately. It has fallen off a couple of times in intense wind but with no damage. It was easily reattached to the window.
