Toddler LOVES Silly Sally
After hearing my 18 month old ask for “Silly Sally” repeatedly at home, I finally ordered the book. It is a favorite at her daycare and now I know why. Silly Sally is a cute story where she meets different animals on her way into town. “On the way she met a pig, a silly pig who danced a jig.” The rhyming words are fun for kids and the pictures are vibrant. At the end, there is a lot of tickling which makes the book super fun for little kids to participate in.This board book is also well-made and I believe it will stand up to a toddler well. I recommend this book for fun story times and for early readers.

Oh your friends asked for a children’s book at their kids party or baby shower? Pick this
All my friends and family are having babies, and when they ask for books (as a childless person) I am a bit lost. This was my favorite book when I was a child. It was one of the first I had memorized with its sing-songy rhymes. Sally is having the time of her life, looking goofy and making friends with animals, all the while headed to town. I don’t know if there is any deeper meaning, but it certainly made me happy when I read it. I have yet to meet a person that knows this book, it is definitely one that won’t be duplicated as a gift.

Good product overall.
Book came in good shape for the most part. However there appeared to be some kind of food stamp on the top right corner of the cover of the book and there was one page that was ripped about 3 inches long towards the bottom of the page.

これは物語というより歌です。 韻を踏み， 一部単語を変えた同じフレーズのくりかえしでできており， 非常にリズミカルな文です。 声を出して読めば自然と歌ってしまいます。 そして覚えてしまいます。 Chicka Chicka Boom Boomが使える「教材」と思った方ならこの絵本の意義もわかるはずです。Silly Sally went to town, walking backwards, upside down. で始まります。 途中で pig, dog, loon, sheep に出会い， walking の部分が dancing, leaping, singing 等に変わって行きます。 sheep に出会って fell asleep してしまい， 先に進まなくなります。 そこで出てきたのが Neddy Buttercup 。 彼のおかげで Sally は woke up してめでたく町に着きました― という話です。文法的には分詞構文，限定用法と非制限的用法の関係代名詞 (この違いを説明するのに絶好の文があります），関係副詞That’s how SV が使われています。 みごとに教科書的で，中高一貫校や高校の補助教材として使えなくはないのですが， 英語習いたての児童生徒こそ楽しめ役立つ絵本です。 文法の説明など抜きにして丸暗記させるのです。 絵も先の展開が予想できるようになっていますから， 絵を見て暗記した文章を言ってみる練習ができます。 しかしその絵自体は， いかにも欧米人好みで日本人の感性には今ひとつと思います。 特に Neddy Buttercup の全身花びらの姿は気持ち悪い。 魚のうろこや松ぼっくりのカサのような「集合体」が苦手な人はぞっとするかも知れません。かつてはカセットテープの朗読版もあったようです。 願わくばＣＤとして復刻してほしいところです。

My 3 yo son really enjoys reading this book. He finds it hilarious. And since the text repeats itself, my son is able to read along. My son even says the words when he’s playing and tries to move the same way the characters in the book move. I like it because the story gets us both laughing together.
