NOT SANDED DOWN. Huge risk of splinters. Hard to use because of how cheaply made it is.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Very, VERY cheaply made. I feel like even for $25 you could at least still sand down the wood. I don’t have kids (using this for pets) but if a small child were to grab onto this gate, there’s no way they wouldn’t get a splinter or SEVERAL splinters. It’s hard to move and adjust because of how cheap the wood feels. The latch just really fights with the wood in order to move it to a different slot because the wood is not sanded down or polished. I have another gate just like this one that’s several years old, but sanded down and polished, so it’s a lot easier to use than this hunk of junk. Overall, I’m really unhappy with this product but I needed a gate and cannot return.

Not happy with this terrible design poor fit
Okay, we bought this for the stairs and our thought was if it couldn’t extend out because of our high trim there that we could just put it above.As you can see that doesn’t work either. At first it was extremely hard opening and adjusting. I thought I was doing something wrong there’s obviously no directions. Finally got it to work and extend out which is still so difficult but after a few uses I noticed the bar was jabbing into the wall as if it’s breaking at the end from the proper security / tension.I don’t see this lasting long at all not to mention I need to fix the wall now. I have it set at the mark between 27 and 28. 27 is way too loose and 28 won’t fit. But the mark I have it at obviously doesn’t fit either.If you’re using this for a doorway maybe you’ll have some luck if not don’t even waste money.

Garbage and cheap. Flimsy wood used and did not work properly. would come off track and not work properly. Handle used to tighten into doorway snapped off. Stay away.

Garbage – A Sharp, Broken Hazard in 15 Minutes
Having a similar wooden pressure gate for almost 13 years with my last dog, I purchased this gate to again use in doorways so that my 3 month old pointer could see us yet not be jumping all over us from time to time. I placed this brand new gate in a doorway, as I had done hundreds of times in the past, and lowered the pressure arm to keep it in place. My puppy became a little excited, placed her front paws on the top bar and tried to jump/crawl over the gate – as my former dog did hundreds of times before with a previous wooden gate. However, on this occasion, the top, wooden bar of the wooden gate burst and pieces of wood went flying. A sharp wooden stake was left for a top bar and my puppy began to happily munch on a piece of the broken-off wood. That piece of wood she was chewing on could have splintered and caused serious internal injuries had I not quickly taken it away from her. The top par, now turned sharp wooden stake, could have also caused serious bodily injury. Either the gate I received was defective (probably not) or this model is cheap garbage. If I could provide less that one star, I definitely would!

The price was right and I used a similar one at an Airbnb with good success.It is easy to set up and I’m able to use it for both doorways AND to block off a section of my home I don’t want the toddler roaming into.It is stable, portable, and easy to move where I need it to.Alternatively, now my toddler has a new fun activity of throwing his toys over the gate.

This is our third baby gate we have purchased. One for each entryway to prevent our toddler from entering certain spaces. It works great and stays firmly in place. It’s a classic baby gate at a good price. It is a bit hard to click and unclick back into place but we leave ours up and don’t ever move it. We just climb over it every time. I wouldn’t recommend if you were going to be moving the gate multiple times a day as it is difficult to maneuver back in.
