Perfect gate! Super easy to install. A complete snug fit. And it latches at the top and bottom.We got this gate to keep the dogs out but to let the cat come and go as she pleases. I like that the cat door just lifts up and doesn’t swing. You can also adjust the cat door to be lower if you wanted to.We have a banister so we used a banister kit on one of the railings. We bought them here on Amazon too.I didn’t take a picture, but it comes with different ways to attach it to your wall based on your needs. If you want it super secure. You can screw it into the wall! Or it comes with doubled sided round tape to make sure it won’t move. We decided to try it as is against the wall and if it budges over time we may add the sticky pads but it’s incredibly sturdy already so I doubt we will need it.Make sure to measure before buying though.Good for the price as well.

Best gate I’ve bought yet
I’ve bought at least 3 gates now – this one, another white metal type with a swinging cat door, and a fabric version without an extra door – all from Amazon. I have these to help keep foster animals separated from our personal animals and to keep our cats out of certain areas of the house as well.THIS gate is by far the best of the three that I’ve bought! It’s incredibly sturdy, easy to put together and adjust, the size being changeable per door width is AMAZING when I want to move it around and block off our basement… it’s just fantastic! The small cat door locks and stays up with ease too keeping it super safe for my kitties with no chance of them accidentally closing it and locking themselves in a room (unlike the other gate with the swinging door).The BEST part of this gate is that when you open it, it auto shuts behind you every time. You cannot accidentally leave this gate open unless you physically leave something in it’s way. It has a mechanism to force it closed – softly – behind you every single time.I would rebuy this gate every single time. Never going back to another type.

This baby gate with the swing-open door and built-in cat door is doing exactly what I needed it to do! It’s officially stopped my pesky beagle from having his nightly cat-poop and cat-food buffet. Perfect gate for baby with cat
Installation is not bad, took me about 20 minutes. I bought 2 of these one for the bottom steps and one for the top. After doing one I was able to do the other in half the time. It’s super secure, my baby has stood there and shaken it wild and it has never opened. Opening is easy once you realize that you hold the top button and lift the bottom off the track. Cat loves the access door so he can run away from the baby. Great door and great quality

Heavy, difficult to get the tension fixed but still worth it
This is a great baby gate, in our case a puppy gate. The extra wide extension pieces go together easily and in theory the four “screw tight” tension screws (the part that butts up to the wall) should make it all simple. Not so much. First, the whole thing is pretty heavy for one small woman to manage by herself and the extension pieces fall off easily which complicates installation. Plain wood screws and wall mount brackets for the 4 tension screws are provided but you would have to know EXACTLY where you were going to want those 4 tension screws to go or you’ll be drilling more holes to get the gate level both vertically and horizontally. And you MUST get the 4 tension screw grabbers right or the gate latch won’t work properly and the whole thing would be worthless. I did get this gate up, barely. The problem for me is on one side is a 45 degree turn in my kitchen cabinets and one side of the gate fits there but getting the tension screws really tight poses a problem since a wrench or vice grip won’t work around the 45 angle. I’m not strong enough to tighten the tension screws by hand enough to make them absolutely solid and stable. If I were installing this on two parallel and straight walls it might be easier. And did I say it’s really heavy and the extensions fall off easily? Yeah. Until this thing is pretty much completely installed and leveled there is the danger that one of the extensions will fall and then it’s time to start over again. It would be much easier to have a second person handy to help and preferably one with strong hands to tighten those tension screws up against the wall very tightly. Once it’s up, it’s a godsend! Even the most determined puppy can’t chew through although a big puppy might be able to knock it over until it is really stable and solid. The gate does prop open at a 45-degree angle when you want, and it closes easily when you are just stepping through and don’t want that puppy (or baby) to follow. I think the white finish is attractive and blends well with my white kitchen cabinets. Until I can get a family friend or my adult son over here to tighten everything properly I’m being very careful because it “can” slip at one corner and come crashing down – on my feet and on the puppy, too. I still give this 4 stars and it would be 5 stars if it were just a little more user friendly in the installation. Oh, and the wide walk-through space makes it very easy even carrying an armload of laundry or groceries or a child. It does open with one hand. I’m pleased and would buy it again. If you do pick this gate, just have a friend there to help on one side with you on the other because a 55″ span is too wide for one person to manage all at once. Good luck!

It was really easy to install, the directions are clear and there’s even a extension depending on the size you need. You have the option of screwing it in the walls or only to use the sticker to hold it. I personally only use the sticker and it holds perfectly because when you ajust the sides, the pressure makes it that you don’t absolutely need to screw it in the walls. Perfect fit and easy to use. Highly recommend. The material is sturdy metal and the kitty door is ajustable, you can close it at your convenience or keep it open.
