#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A colorfully creative sequel to the runaway hit The Day the Crayons Quit that’s “funnier than the creators’ original blockbuster” (Parents)
ONE OF THE BEST CHILDREN’S BOOKS OF THE YEAR: Time, Parents, The Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly
“Continues its predecessor’s pleasing, goofy conceit . . . Once again, both Daywalt’s text and Jeffers’ illustrations are endearing.”—New York Times Book Review
Poor Duncan! His crayons sure are a colorful bunch of characters. In The Day the Crayons Quit, they threatened to walk off the job. Now, a whole new group of crayons have sent postcards asking to be rescued. From Maroon Crayon, who was lost beneath the sofa cushions and then broken in two after Dad sat on him; to poor Turquoise, who is stuck to one of Duncan’s stinky socks after they both ended up in the dryer together; to Pea Green, who knows darn well that no kid likes peas, each and every crayon has a woeful tale to tell and a plea to be brought home to the crayon box.
With real glow-in-the-dark neon ink, Drew Daywalt’s laugh-out-loud text, and Oliver Jeffers’ signature illustrations, The Day the Crayons Came Home delivers yet another kid-friendly message of belonging, self-expression, and the power of empathy.

Drew Daywalt Does It Again!
Drew Daywalt does it again! His latest book “The Day the Crayons Came Home” once more features Duncan and his very unusual, very verbose crayons. Humorous postcards, written by different, individual colors of crayon, will have you laughing aloud at their complaints, misadventures, and revelations. (Be sure to note the postcard’s description – when shown.) Since they are traveling a long distance to reach home or need assistance to leave, several of the crayons do send multiple postcards. With the exception of yellow and orange crayons, the colors in this book are different from those in the previous “The Day the Crayons Quit”. The humor in the postcard’s written text may be gentle, snarky, or it may be making a point about the featured crayon’s feelings. Every postcard is funny and fun to read.Oliver Jeffers’ illustrations – childlike crayon drawings and lettering – add significantly to the book’s appeal and highlight the dilemmas faced by each color. Younger readers may find the child-like lettering a bit difficult to decipher. On the other hand, they may be able to assist adult readers who are having difficulty reading the childlike printing. One of my favorite things about Drew Daywalt’s two books is that the crayons reflect both readers’ and listeners’ emotions. Duncan’s crayons do have very human feelings and reactions to the events in their lives. Those in “The Day the Crayons Quit” are more representative of adults and their workplace attitudes. In “The Day the Crayons Came Home”, the crayons express feelings that are more familiar to children – feeling forgotten, disliking their own name and wanting to change it, needing help to run away from home.“The Day the Crayons Quit” is one of my grandson’s favorite bedtime books. I am sure that “The Day the Crayons Came Home” will be, too. It is a fun-filled, funny book. It will engage and entertain both young readers and adults. I recommend you add this wonderful, imaginative book to your library.

Such a cute book
This author never disappoints the whole series is amazing and this one will not disappoint. You get introduced to new colors who are unique and interesting. The book has lots of learning possibilities such as letter writing and even science such as how the sun works. Great for kids and adults!

Had to get the Sequel to the First Book!
Bought the first book for my daughter who LOVES IT! After discovering and finding this sequel to the first book, I just knew I HAD to buy it! The book didn’t disappoint AT ALL! It was super cute and funny, they even have a cool glow-in-dark crayon featured page that REALLY DOES GLOW IN THE DARK, that glow in the dark page is my absolute favorite. I freaking LOVEE this book and the first, and recommend purchasing BOTH! The kids will love it, and you won’t regret it.

Fun for Adults too
Fantastic sequel! I actually like this one more than the first. My son loved this book when little, and I’m now gifting it to my goddaughter who is turning 5. It’s an imaginative premise, great illustrations, and full of unique characters. Who doesn’t love Esteban the Magnificent! Highly recommend this and all the Crayon books.

Crayon-tastic
My daughter and I have had countless giggles and guffaws over the absurd antics of these lovable crayons. In this side-splitting adventure, Duncan’s crayons are up to their old tricks again, causing mayhem and mischief wherever they go. From Pea Green’s plea for a change of scenery to Neon Red’s wild journey, each crayon’s escapade is more outrageous than the last.

My 6 year old son’s favourite book is ‘The Day The Crayon’s Quit’ – well it was! Tonight we surprised him with the sequel (I pre-ordered this months ago and it’s been really hard not to tell him, as it’s something he’d been wishing for since the first book) the look on his face was priceless! Every page made us laugh out loud. Well worth the wait! If you’re new to Oliver Jeffers or not, this book comes highly recommended, but buy the prequel too. From ‘Lost and Found’, ‘Up and Down’, ‘The Way Back Home’, ‘How To Catch A Star’, ‘The Incredible Book Eating Boy’, ‘Stuck’ and ‘The Heart In A Bottle’ to name but a few, ‘The Day The Crayon’s Came Home’ is another children’s classic that is an absolute joy to read to your child. Oliver Jeffers is pure genius!
