SUUUUPER Boring… in the Best Way Possible!
This book definitely lived up to its name…so boring! The illustrations are fun, and the humor makes it a cute, quick read. Perfect as a lighthearted bedtime story that both kids and adults can enjoy.

    Love it!
As a massive fan of Brandon Sanderson and the father of a 5 year old, I had the perfect excuse to pick this up. Honestly, I probably like it more than my 5 year old does though. Great art and a fun story.

  3. Mom –

    Such a fun read.
I was giving a lesson on the importance of visualizing what you read. I left on the book jacket, which is plain white on the back, and I read the words without showing the pictures. The story is very boring, about a boy who sits in a chair and looks at birds. Definitely, a boring book. Then l took off the book jacket to reveal the cover–a brilliant, high-relief, wrap-around image of a dragon. The illustrations fill in the gaps about a boy who sits in his chair…as he gets blasted into the clouds! And he indeed watches for birds, but they turn out to be dragons!A very effective lesson about how you can use your imagination to visualize what you read. The illustrations are dynamic and colorful, with a slight steampunk, Ghibli vibe.I gave this lesson to three separate classes of 4th grade students. Each group was in agreement that it was the greatest boring book they had ever seen.

    2 y/o loves it
My husband and 2 y/o daughter love this book and for a non board book the amount of words per page are perfect. The art is very captivating and she wants it read over and over and actually lets you read the book and isn’t turning pages before you’re ready to turn them. The reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because I find the book…boring…I know, I know, but it just seems like a cash grab on Brandon Sanderson’s part and i mean, all the more power to him, but personally, I just would rather read something else.

    Great book involving imagination
This book won’t be for everyone. Some people will think that there should be more of a story line from the text. My 4 year old daughter and I enjoyed it as is.In my opinion, part of what’s great about this is the idea of using your imagination while doing boring, mundane tasks, like math and laundry. The text describes what is going on from the perspective of someone who might be observing the boy sitting in the chair, which is only that the bit is sitting, doing laundry and math homework. The illustrations show what the boy is imagining, which is anything but boring. The boy in the story uses his imagination to make what would otherwise be boring tasks, fun and exciting. This could be helpful for showing kids what they can do with their imagination, and provide encouragement that is ok to imagine things while doing otherwise biting tasks.

2 year old daughter has this book memorized
My daughter loves this book, it’s unique and quite “boring”! The art tells the real story and it’s captivating, so much so that when I read it for my daughter I’m often times finding new ways to tell the story based on the pictures from the background. Great read for young minds.

  7. Another Satisfied Customer –

    Amazing artwork
Brandon Sanderson is one of my favorite authors, so I knew I needed to preorder his picture book. The story Sanderson shares is basic, even a little boring. But the accompanying artwork by Kazi Kibushi elevates this boring story to an epic tale with danger, dragons, and sudden drops. My youngest loved this story. The words were easily deciphered and the pictures captivating. Kids will love this new book.

  8. Nick –

    I’m disappointed
Brandon Sanderson is why I purchased this book. But – it feels like I’ve been hoodwinked. They got a man with amazing words to put together strings of very boring words for what feels like the purpose was to sell books. The title is suppose to be ironic, but the book really is very boring. Sure the pictures tell a different story than the words. It’s suppose to be hilarious, but it’s not. I read this book with my 6 and 9 year old and at the end they were actually pretty bored with it. I had no opportunity to do voices or anything. The art is cool, but the book in total isn’t a fun read, it’s not a fun experience. And at the end of the book you don’t even have a story to tell anyone about what the book is about.A Frog and Toad book has more discovery and surprise than this thing.

  9. Wuselnderpingu –

Meine Tochter findet es okay, mein Mann liebt es. Zitat: ” Was für eine Leistung von Sander Branderson”. 😀 Für Fans vom Autoren sicher ein nettes Extra.

  10. Ashmita Randhawa –

Brandon Sanderson is one of my favourite authors and may daughter loves examining the spectacular artwork!

  11. Annamarie –

My nieces and nephews, I think they enjoyed it even more than I did. Lots of laughs and exclamations as the words didn’t quite meet up with the fantastic artwork. It has become one of the more requested picture books to be read.

  12. MonaM –

The Most Boring Book Ever by Brandon Sanderson is anything but boring. With a narrator determined to describe the most uneventful story imaginable, the real excitement lies in Kazu Kibuishi’s dazzling illustrations – full of dragons, skyships, and action-packed scenes. As the text insists “nothing is happening,” the artwork tells an entirely different story. This clever contrast invites young readers to think critically, laugh loudly, and look beyond what they’re told. A brilliant, playful picture book that celebrates imagination and visual storytelling. Perfect for curious kids ages 4–8—and the adults who read with them.

  13. Laura –

    Great story and illustrations
