How does the camera store videos?
You have two options: you can use a micro SD card (sold separately), or you can subscribe to cloud storage through the ‘HOME V’ app.
Do I need a subscription to use the camera?
Nope, a subscription isn’t necessary! All the essential features are free to use, and most of our customers enjoy the camera without any extra costs. Subscriptions are only needed for a few premium features.
Is this battery powered?
No. XD1 is a plug-in WiFi camera and must be connected to a power outlet to work. It is not battery powered.
Does this camera work with 5 GHz Wi‑Fi or 5G?
No. The XD1 supports 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi only (802.11 b/g/n). It does not support 5 GHz Wi‑Fi, and it’s not related to 5G cellular. During setup, connect your phone to a 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network and then add the camera in the app.

This unit is a work of art. It works great and does everything you can ask of it except work under water at least I haven’t attempted that yet. It works in a dark attic once you get the power to plug it in. And it works as a tool to monitor an indoor swimming pool. It has the ability to talk with an intruder or a friend with good sound. It has cat and dog sounds and you can even put your own voice on it using the alarm setting. I use 4 units and can view them on my phone and iPad you can even set it up to view 2 units at once.Now I have dropped the unit from my attic to the floor below and the unit still works.Some times you have to reset especially when you change locations but not always.Now the app is great and they update it too. They added the dog and cat sounds recently. You have to be sure your WiFi is set on your phone or iPad to a 2.4 GHz line or it will lose connection. I think this is what you see with the WiFi complaints they are most likely using 5GHz lines not 2.4GHz.I have been using my 4 units since October and I have had zero problems once I read the directions and watched the video. The reset is something you need to read carefully!!! And if it don’t reset turn it off unplug it and let it sit for an hour and then try to add it to you app. I think the battery in the unit has to totally shut off to do the reset.Yes I plan to buy 2 more soon. Once you add the video microSD memory disk you can search back for days and look at activities it’s great for finding critters moving around in your attic. The night vision is fantastic . And you can scroll around the room using the top camera. The bottom one is fixed and make sure you set it away from bright light and powerful sun light. That goes for color and night vision. If you want color at night just put an inexpensive night light some distance behind your camera.Yes when talking you have a short lag time but you get used to it pretty fast. It’s about a second or less.Also if you want to hear and talk to people using the camera make sure your phone or iPad has the volume turned on because they will hear you. However you won’t hear them if you don’t. You can turn sound on or off on the unit too. The app has all types of features and almost all of them are free and work very well. You can hook up to a cloud service for a price. I also have the MyQ garage system and I wish they were set up as good as this camera app unit but that’s another story.Update 12/12/2025 I added a photo of the night vision in a dark no light attic and yes it’s watching for insects and other critters. If you look at the bottom line you will see a time and date stamp and the red line is activity found at that time and date. If I added light in the background it will flip to color automatically if you read the instructions and set it up correctly.

Great device with easy set-up and operation!
This was so easy to install. I have it sitting on my headboard, but it does come with parts to mount it on the ceiling or wherever. The app was simple to download and very user friendly. The range and video quality is great! This is a dual camera and the bottom camera is stationary while the top one you can move in every direction. It even has night vision!!!! Great product!

Perfect for me
It was easy to set up, they’re only asking forty nine dollars a year for a single camera, which is reasonable. Has decent night vision. I live in a motel, it lets me know when motion is active on my phone. So now I get to find out who’s been coming in my room while i’m at work. A huge peace of mind.

Update – okay so this update comes an hr later. This is absolute garbage. The settings make no sense and there is no explanation on what they even do. It’s already deleted recordings that are suppose to save to the sd card and is keeps on disconnection when the router is only a few feet away. My other cameras that were half the price work better and the settings actually make sense and they explain things! Don’t even bother with this.I will post an update in the next couple days but honestly this seems like it’s getting returned. Nothing makes sense for how this is set up and it’s constantly disconnecting from my WiFi and the router is 5 feet away in the same room and there is no wall in between. Not sure about it being able to record anything at all because of the connection problems. I need it to watch my dogs. The alarm setting makes no sense at all. I contacted support so let’s see if I can get some answers. So far this thing doesn’t seem to be worth the money. The only thing that I like is when the camera is moving it makes no sound at all which is why it got 2* but so far this doesn’t seem like a good product

EASY SET UP
Great camera! No subscription! Very easy to set up! A bit of lag, but that’s normal. I have a better sense of security! Great to see animals roaming around!

Took alittle time to set uo at Care facility for a family member cm ut camera is good but audio speaker is lacking do not recommend if wanting to talk to family on it

Per ora funziona bene.Qualità video buona, anche al buio.Una volta scaricata la sua app si installa facilmente seguendo i vari passi, il tutto in circa 2 minuti.Non servono abbonamenti vari come leggevo qui e là…Ovviamente c’è anche l’opzione per ribaltare l’immagine se viene montata al contrario, tengo a precisarlo perchè qualcuno/a affermava non si potesse fare, bastava guardare un pò meglio le impostazioni…
